Jeff Markel brooch for Winfield Fine Art in Jewelry; paint and copper wire on watercolor paper, encased in acrylics, c. 1947; signed: "JEFF" on back of art; etched in plastic: "BY" (above artist signature), and "WINFIELD, Pat. Pend.;" light surface wear, otherwise fine condition. Jeff Markel was an artist and musician who would bring his trumpet to the jam sessions at Julian Goodenow's in Greenwich Village. Markel is now a furniture designer, contractor, and author in California. His pendants and brooches are both cubist and biomorphic and the influence of Miro can be seen in the two pieces directly below as well as that of Maholy-Nagy whose photograms inspired Margaret De Patta to use screens as design elements in her jewelry. $250.00 (item #WFA28) |

Beautiful brooch attributed to Ruth Patsy Klein, designed for Winfield Fine Art in Jewelry; watercolors, pen &ink and silver glitter encased in acrylics. c. 1946 or 1947, about 3-1/4" x 2-1/8"; etched in plastics: an illegible name and "WINFIELD, Pat. Pend.;" back has some scratches, otherwise fine condition. As an artist, Ruth Patsy Klein was ahead of her time. Sadly, she died at a young age. Nat Koffman designed brooch for Winfield Fine Art in Jewelry; copper, paint, encased in acrylics, c. 1946 or 1947; about 2-7/8" x 2;" etched on reverse: "Designed by Nat Koffman, WINFIELD - Pat. Pend.;" some bubbles in acrylics that are original to the creating of the piece; otherwise fine condition. Nat Koffman was another of the Winfield artists who gained notoriety even though he died quite young. He was an American, born in 1910 in Pennsylvania $350.00 (item #WFA30) |
