A rare and exceptional sterling constructivist pin by Peter Macchiarini with a cabochon Catham emerald, this fresh to the market piece comes from a customer who purchased it directly from Peter in San Francisco in the 1950s; approximately 2-1/2" x 2-1/4"; marked: "MACCHIARINI." The very high quality emerald in the piece comes from John Chatham, son of John Carol Chatham who provided Peter Macchiarini with stones after World War II. According to Daniel Macchiarini, who recently set the stone in this piece, John Carol developed the first real mineral lab in the early 1940s and created stones of extremely high quality. This emerald is unique--though there is very little of real Chatham emerald chunks left from which to create stones, Daniel Macchiarini's lapidary had enough of the original material in order to create this magnificent, blue-green emerald cabochon. $4,800.00 (item #M0262) |
