The maker of this brooch was an expert enamellist who produced many pretty pieces of Mexican jewelry in the 1940s-50s; the young Mexican girl with the eagle on her skirt is a favorite design; she is about 2-1/4" x 1-3/8"; in fine condition with no chips to the enamel; marked: "JF" (conjoined), STERLING, HECHO EN MEXICO," and an eagle mark with number "3;" Sheila Pamfilof, of www.glitterbox.com pointed out that there is a photo of a ring by "JF" from 1945 in Mexican Silver by Burk and Morrill on page v, (contents page).
