A great pair of jazzy cufflinks by Henry Steig who, as well as a being a famous mid 20th century American jeweler, was an accomplished musician, playing saxophone and clarinet in New York dance bands between 1922-32; cufflinks are sterling silver and about 3/4" x 1/2" and are signed: "STEIG, STERLING;" fine condition with nice patina.

Biographies of Henry Steig and photographs of his work can be found in both of my books, Modernist Jewelry in America, 1930-1960, The Wearable Art Movement and Form & Function, American Modernist Jewelry, 1940 - 1970 and his work was included in the exhibit "American Modernist Jewelry, 1940 - 1970" at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, 2008.
