Florence Resnikoff retired as Program Head of the Jewelry and Metal Arts Department at California College of the Arts and Crafts in 1989. She was named a Professor Emerita by CCAC and they created a scholarship in her name (The Florence L. Resnikoff Scholarship).

Over the years, she received one personal NEA artist grant and in 1978 she wrote a proposal to the NEA to start a Summer Session Program Series at CCAC that allowed me her invite guest metalsmiths and jewelry artists to teach new techniques and approaches in the field. The grant was awarded and 24 workshops were held in the summers of 1979-1983.

She also received a Ford Foundation Artist Award that allowed the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque to sponsor her visit where she lectured and assembled a new electroforming set-up for the jewelry studio. She was named a California Living Treasure in 1985 and I was awarded a Faculty Award from the Independent Art Colleges in 1986.

Her work is now in the collection of several museums including the The Art Commission of the City and County of San Francisco, the Oakland Art Museum, The Boston Museum of Fine Arts, and the Smithsonian Museum of American Art in Washington, D.C. The Smithsonian has collected a total of six pieces over the years. The Museum of Art and Design in New York City has recently purchased one of my titanium neckpieces for their permanent collection. (see photo attached to this email.)

One of her most recent exhibitions was at the Hearst Gallery at St. Mary’s College in Moraga, CA in 2010, where she showed 24 pieces of jewelry and metalsmithing in their show called “Gifted Hands: The Fine Art of Craft”.  Her work will be included in the upcoming show called "California Design, 1930-1965, “ Living in a Modern Way” which will be at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in from October, 2011 – March, 2012.
