Elisa Bongfeldt studied art and art history in Italy, but returned to the USA, to California where she attended Pacific Lutheran University and then received a B.F.A. in Metal Arts from the California College of Arts & Crafts. She has been in numerous gallery exhibitions throughout her career.

In Elisa's artist statement, she says, "My interest in design—industrial and architecture especially—has influenced my work considerably. My current work focuses on freshwater pearls and oxidized sterling silver. These pieces are meant to evoke the feeling of steel and ball bearings, looking back to the machine age. I am attracted to these designs for their clarity of strength and simplicity."
