Simple but stunning sterling neckring by Art Smith--elegant when worn; about 20-1/2" around; great weight; handwrought silver shows hammer marks; width of the silver ring is 1/8" at the very narrowest section to 1/4" at the widest section; thickness of the silver also varies from about 1/16" to a bit more; large ball is about 3/4" diameter and the smaller ball is about 5/8" diameter; a small crease on the larger ball, otherwise fine condition; signed "Art Smith" (in script).

This piece was purchased directly from Art Smith from the first owner who said that Art Smith loved the piece because it was so unusual and he kidded the buyer about how to get it on and off and showed her how to do it. (It isn't hard once you get the hang of it.)

I've included a photograph from my upcoming book, Form & Function, American Modernist Jewelry, 1940 - 1970 of an Art Smith brochure that shows a model wearing a similar "wrap around" neck ring.
