Exceptional large hand built pottery vase by
Charles M. Brown, very
dark stoneware body with
thick peach colored glaze,
and multicolored splotches;
approximately 11-1/2" high;
about 8-1/2" diameter at the
widest point; signed on
bottom: "CB"; excellent
condition.
Charles Brown is a nationally
recognized potter whose work was selected to be included in
"Objects USA" a touring exhibit sponsored by the Lee Nordness
Gallery and the Johnson Wax Company which opened at the Smithsonian in the
fall of 1969. He was a resident of Mandarin, Florida. He worked
exclusively with hand building techniques using experimental
glazes.
This piece is a very large and fine example of his work. (taken from Objects
